One of the arguments for priests marrying is that they would better be able to understand the stresses of marriage and family.

This is like looking for doctors who have heart disease, cancer, are pregnant, or have broken their leg.

Fr. Frank,

This has nothing to do with Mark Twain or the classics, but I thought maybe I could get your attention and others here.
During this pandemic scare of N1H1 flu virus (swine flu)do you think that we could forgo using a handshake as a sign of peace during mass?

Hi Father Frank, In a Sociology class many years ago, the instructor asked, "What is everyones' favorite word?"
We all said, "love". Wrong. Our favorite word is our own name. So right!

I like the simplicity of the concept 'Observe, Judge and Act'. I have a situation that could benefit from this method but don't know where to start. I have been a catholic all my life and never concerned myself with other religions, their beliefs or how they were different or similar to my own. Not long ago my children came home very exited because they were invited to attend an event with very good friends and this was a church group. The friends and the group was fun for them; they were impressed by the enthusiasm of everyone involved and about their knowledge about the bible. The children enjoyed the experience very much and wanted the entire family to have the same experience.

I suppose that there are a few 'observations' about my story but the one I like to focus on is the one about understanding my own church and beliefs in comparison to other churches. I believe I need to get more involved in understanding my beliefs so that I can do a better job of teaching my children.

Would you be willing to start a discussion on the topic of the differences between the major religious groups in our community?

You are so wise! Since I began trying to go to Reconciliation more often and AJ and I trying to attend daily Mass as often as we can---his and my and our faith seems to have both grown and strenghtened. (You are a good shepherd--even to the sheep who go away for the winter!)
